Fail
I finally feel like I've got school under control. My attempt at not being a nerd this semester...failed.

'ell week 2
My boss proclaimed last week to be 'ell week. Seems like every single organization under the sun is trying to push in "one last event" before the academic year goes out. And the boss and his little minions get to set up for every single one of these events.
Being a minion sounds cute. But that's the extent of anything positive that has to go with that. That is besides being paid. Pay is good too.
So yeah, that was last week. This week was 'ell x2. Because on top of work, lecturers are beginning to realize that there are only 2 weeks left of the semester to give homework, quizzes, tests, papers and presentations.
And so, coffee has become part of my life again.

Confessions of a procrastinator
Getting ready to go to the library to pull an all nighter is like packing for a solo hike through the Sahara Desert. Included in the checklist is caffeine, notes, caffeine, notes, caffeine and caffeine. And caffeine. And caffeine.
You know that...
You know that you have been spending too much time in Microbiology lab when you think the grass peaking out through the melting snow looks like a petri dish of microorganisms.

The fourth first week...
I've hit my fourth semester, and have long gotten past the "first week freakout" stage. Yes, getting the syllabus, facing a classroom of strangers and figuring out my schedule can be horrible if you don't remember to forget the fact that all the exams, assignments and presentations will take care of themselves when they come around.
As usual, I made myself a timetable so I won't be a klutz and go to the right class at the wrong time or some idiotic notion like that.
As you can see, I have two 3 hour long night classes, which is awesome because I can get them over with sekali-gus. On the other hand, 3 hours of class after a long day of class and work isn't my idea of fun.

On your marks, get set...
GO!!!
*commentator voice over*
Spring semester 2010 has began and the athletes are off sprinting down the track at a blazing speed in the front we see last semester's champion with a 2 meter lead but close behind we see a new comer hot on his heels no wait he is gaining on him he has caught up with him and he's in front what a start to the new semester oh wait someone in the race has stumbled no he's up again and we move back to the front competitors...
...wait? Who's that stumbling into the stadium? Looks like a Chinese lady with her hair standing on end. Must be bed hair. My goodness, she looks like she needs a drink of coffee laced with some *ahheeem*.
Someone, get that lady a cuppa joe before she collapses on the track!

Let's kick some donkey.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. This is a children-friendly blog. That been said, I just kicked Semester 3 in the donkey.
Translation for those who are slow or extreeeemely sleepy: I'm officially done with finals!!!
Now to move on to the work daddy sends me. Yay for the advent season where there are a gazillion services to prepare for. o.O

I see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel...
I have a flair for the dramatic. Or at least I pretend I do. I don't really see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I see light everywhere. There never really was a tunnel in the first place. I'm blabbering. Or at least I think I am. Do I blabber a lot? That's a rhetorical question. I know that you know I do. I'm sorry, I'll stop now. Honest. See? I've stopped.
Ahhem. Ahhem?? AHHHEMM!! There, that's better. =)
So...the dramatic nonsense aside, I'm done with half of my exams. I've another 2 to go, but as far as ME is concerned, its time to go amok and run around in my bday suit. 2 problems though:

- Its not my birthday.
- Its waaaay to cold to run around in my bday suit. I'll have to don on a jacket or something.
Moving away from dramatic talk to something plain and boring: weather.
It's cold, it's in the negative, and wind chill is not a very forgiving factor. Brr. That's all I have to say.

Homestretch
I'm done with classes forever and ever and ever. Amen.
In MY WORLD, 'forever' lasts till 11 January 2010.
But no one really cares about MY WORLD. *sniffles*
*stops sniffling*
So yes, I'm done with classes for the semester. This coming week is Final's Week!! Yay for exams!! *vomit blood*
*Online course, go figure.
Luckily I tested out of taking the Anatomy final. Yay for 2 years of SPM biology!! *vomits blood again*
Please excuse the rather bloody nature of today's blog post. I'm in a I don't wanna study mood which obviously clashes with my abominably annoying kiasu attitude towards studies and life in general.

Turkey bones.
Today is the last day of Thanksgiving break - hence the picture of what was left of our thanksgiving bird. Poor thing, rest in peace.
But yes. It has been an eventful thanksgiving. I think I need to recover from my holiday. =P Last night I slept at 10:30pm, and didn't bother to set my alarm. I figured I'd be up by 8am - latest and have plenty of time to get to church. But noooo, I didn't get up till 9:30, and yes, I was late to church.
Ooops.
But yes, thanksgiving break is over, and finals are just 2 weeks away!! Time to get my head in the game (or my face in the books) and stop slacking off.

Turkey Holiday
My history prof has a little trouble getting us to class on time...so he has these periodic "pop quizzes" for those who come early. Today's question was one of his killer questions - "What holiday is going to be celebrated this coming Thursday?"
I answered, "TURKEY HOLIDAY".
How original.
Then I found out that the whole Red Indians sharing food with the starving pilgrims at Plymouth Rock story was a scam. Apparently, the holiday was invented by Ab Lincoln during the civil war to give a break to the soldiers. Really, that takes away a lot of the romance from the story.
Not that Red Indians bringing turkeys to starving pilgrims is very romantic...I'm just sayin'...
But yes, its that time of the year again. The time of the turkey.

Week 8
Week 8 has probably has been one of the AWFULEST week ever.
Not really. It wasn't awful at all. I just wanted to make an impression. I like making impressions. It is fun. The end.
Actually, week 8 has been a rather nice and easy going week. We are ejekly halfway through the semester which means that it is midterms. Which means that all the profs think we are stressed out, which means they all stop giving us assignments. I like.
But back to awful. Let just say technology hasn't been kind to me. And considering the fact that I work for Campus Technology...that isn't a good thing - workwise. So I was manning 2 major events in the past 2 weeks, and as I said, technology wasn't kind to me and there was absolutely nothing I could do. But I shore looked bad.
Looking bad I can handle. Because I know it ain't my fault. But now the A/V department is under scrutiny and we have to build our reputation up again. That I can handle as well. What I can't handle is how everyone's being so nice to me. Would someone gimme a scolding? Please?
Then maybe I'll stop feeling bad about how nobody is blaming me even though its not my fault.
I'm weird.
And I'm proud of it!

48 bpm
Last year in Human Anatomy Lab, I found out that I don't sweat.
This year, I found out that I'm dead. Or almost dead. Whichever. I have a heart rate of 48 beats per minute. The normal adult has a heart rate of at least 60 bpm. Which means my heart beats at least 12 times less per minute than a normal adult. That is 720 times less per hour, 17280 times a day, 120960 times a week, 518400 times a month and 6307200 times a year less than a normal adult - to say the least. Therefore, I'm dead.
I rest my case.

There are two explanations for this:
1. I'm an athlete with a super strong heart.
2. I live on the other side of the edge - too calm and cool to have a normal heart rate.
Well, there is a third explanation. But I don't think I've an incurable heart disease.
I'm inclined to option #2. What do you think, hey?

Back to school...
"Back to schools" are getting more and more unexciting. I used to have that chilly, early morning nervous/excited thing going on, combined with mum's half boiled eggs & toast with milo (and in later years, coffee)...
Now, its a *groan, stretch, get up, knock into a few things, cook oats, wash up, eat oats, change clothes, get out of the apartment, go back in the apartment, get keys, go out of the apartment again* affair. No feeling, no nothing. How boring.
So I go to class, read the syllabus, and have the usual "OH MY COW, I'M GONNA FAIL SO BAD" feeling. Then I remember that I have that feeling every time I read a stinking syllabus anyways. Then I feel much better. Then I go back to having no feeling, no nothing. How boring.
The end. How boring.

Finally...final...finals...
Finally, the final week of class and Finals Week is here.
Just to clarify things,
final week of class = the final week of class
Finals Week = the week where all the Final Exams are held
Maybe I should stop studying for anatomy.

.
...was also the week I had to make an emergency trip to the grocery store...running out of deodorant is an emergency k?...
.
...was also the week I had 2 quizzes...
.
...was also the week prior to my Anatomy Exam on the bwain...God, why did you make my bwain so the complicated?!?!
.
...was also the week I put in an extra 7 hours of work...
.
...was also the week I had to prepare for a presentation worth 20% of my grade...

Fall 2009
Today we had advising for next semester's classes...which is AFTER I come back home and go back to school again in September. And so here's my schedule (as of now). Things may very well change between now and then.
Human Anatomy & Physiology 2
More anatomy. Yay. Tests every 2 weeks. Double yay.
.
Statistics for Behavio(u)ral Sciences
I've always kinda liked stats. And this is statistics for psychology or something like that.
.
Western Literature: Neoclassical through Modern Period
What's neoclassical?!?!?!?! Neo = new right? My latin stinks. Or is it greek? Or french? Or chinese?
.
Survey of the American Mind
One of the compulsory subjects that I have to take is American History, and this is American History for international students. I'm taking it because I know squat about Amerika Syarikat's Sejarah.
.
Introduction to Sociology
As you may (or may not) have noticed, this is not on my timetable. I'm taking an online course for this coz I heard that going to class is a waste of time. Besides, that way, I can have something of a life.
.
Work
So far, 20 hours a week hasn't killed me. We'll see what happens next semester.
.
I dunno if you've noticed, but I have this weird obsession with planning my life waaaaay ahead of time.

The poor unfortunate finger.
Today, I dissected a cat.
Ewww. Sorry la, but it's part of my course work. After convincing myself that that lump of matted fur was actually a chicken in disguise, I went to work. *snip snip snip*
I got carried away and snipped a hole in my latex glove where my finger was...and the lovely formaldehyde/cat juice flowed in. Ewww.
Now my left index finger smells like cat juice. Incidentally, it's the same finger that got stuck to my right hand with glue. The poor unfortunate finger.
